Lucknow: Non-Congress state governments in
Uttar Pradesh have led to unfortunate trend of politicising
the bureaucracy in the state, a senior Congress leader on Tuesday
said reacting on the conviction of former UP chief secretary
Neera Yadav in Noida land scam by a CBI court.
"It has been seen that bureaucrats close to ruling
parties have worked more actively than the active members of
those parties," Tewari claimed.
Taking a dig at BJP which has been attacking UPA
government over various corruption cases, Tewari advised the
saffron party to look in its backyard for people like Yadav
and her politician husband who had joined the party before the
last Lok Sabha elections instead of hunting for scams
Yadav, who was convicted and sentenced to a four-year
jail term by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad a land scam
case, had joined BJP in 2009.
On the multi-crore foodgrains scam, Tewari asked the
Uttar Pradesh government to fully cooperate with the CBI in
the inquiry ordered by the High Court by making available all
evidences and facts.
Terming the foodgrains scam as the biggest in the state,
Tewari said that the petitioner in the case has estimated it
to be around Rs two lakh crores.
"The scam is not limited to junior district level
officials and all aspects, including the involvement of
ministers concerned should also be probed," Tewari added.
