One killed as armed men attack undertrial in train

Muzaffarnagar: One person was shot dead while
three others managed to escape today when police fired at four
armed men who attacked an undertrial in the Jammu Tawi-Delhi
Shalimar Express, officials said.

"An undertrial prisoner Naresh was taken via train from
Shahranpur to Muzaffarnagar under police custody for a court
hearing, four armed miscreants entered the train in Deoband
and opened fire at the prisoner," Deputy Superintendent of
Railway police H K Mishra said.

The prisoner was injured in the incident while one of the
four armed men died in the encounter he said adding three of
the miscreants managed to escape.

The deceased was identified as Anis of Deoband and a case
has been registered in this regard.
