Opposition in UP walks out of Assembly

Congress, BJP and RLD, on Monday staged a walkout in Uttar Pradesh
Legislative Council on the issues of NRHM scam, law and
order and rape incidents.
The issue of NRHM scam and killing of two CMOs and a
DyCMO inside a jail here was raised by SP member Yashwant
Singh through adjournment motion during Zero Hour as he
demanded a debate on the issue.
Leader of Opposition Ahmad Hasan alleged that large-scale irregularities were committed in procurement of
medicines and equipments and this has also been pointed by the
CAG in its report.
"Three murders - of two CMOs V K Arya and B P Singh and
DyCMO Y S Sachan inside the jail - have taken place in the
last nine months," he said.
Hasan alleged that even a letter sent by Union Health
Secretary was overlooked.
Leader of the House Swami Prasad Maurya said that the
government has taken the issue seriously as high level
inquiries have been ordered and special audit was being done.
He said that the government had also recommended CBI
inquiry into killing of health officials and CAG was
conducting a special audit of NRHM.
However, dissatisfied with the government`s reply
opposition members staged a boycott.
The issue of law and order and recent rape incidents in
the state was raised by the BJP members through adjournment
