Pahari Chita gang members held, arms recovered

The Gumla police has recovered arms and ammunition following the arrest of three members of Pahari Chita gang, a criminal outfit, from two different places in Gumla district.

Gumla: The Gumla police has recovered arms and ammunition following the arrest of three members of Pahari Chita gang, a criminal outfit, from two different places in Gumla district, police today said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted raid and arrested Sukhram Kharia and Santosh Sahu from Koinara village, police superintendent Jatin Narwal said.
Police recovered two double barrel regular rifles, one 9mm pistol, eleven live catridges from their possession, he said.

Over one and half dozen cases, including extortion and murder were pending against them in different police stations including Gumla, Talkot, Sisia.

In an another incident, police arrested another member Lalit Sahu from Bharda village while his
brother-in-law, Deepak Sahu, who was running the organization in the adjacent areas, managed to hoodwink the police.
The police recovered 100 kgs ammonium nitrate, two double barrel regular rifles, one country-made pistol, 130 detonators, 30 gelatin sticks and safety wire from his house, Narwal said.

Pahari Chita gang was engaged in various criminal activities for last several months and trying to establish their supremacy by terrorizing people, he said.
