Muzaffarnagar: In a throw back to the Gudiya case, a community panchayat has asked a Muslim woman, who had remarried, to go back to her first husband, who returned after remaining missing for five years.
Roshan got married with Irshad eleven years ago and had two children. Irshad then went missing for five years. In the meantime, Roshan got married to another man Gaffar.
However, the community panchayat of Miranpur town yesterday pronounced her second marriage as "illegal" and directed Roshan to return to her first husband.
The case is similar to that of 26-year-old Gudiya of Mundali village near Meerut, who had remarried after her husband Arif went missing in Kargil war. Gudiya married Taufiq
On returning to his native village, Arif found his wife Gudiya married to Taufiq. Later, Arif and Gudiya were reunited following a decision by the village council.
Gudiya, however, died of septicaemia ? blood poisoning caused by bacteria or their toxins a few days later.
