Amethi: Terming removal of IAS officer
Vijay Shankar Pandey by the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh as
a drama, the Congress on Sunday demanded immediate resignation of
Chief Minister Mayawati.

With the Enforcement Directorate preparing to question
Pandey for his alleged links with Pune stud farm owner Hasan
Ali Khan, he was yesterday removed from the post of Principal
Secretary (Information).
The shunting out of Pandey was a drama enacted by the
Mayawati government which had "failed on all fronts", CLP
leader Pramod Tiwari told reporters here.

"Mayawati should quit immediately as Pandey`s name has
been linked with money launderer Hasan Ali," he said.

Pandey has been appointed Member, UP Revenue Board,
and Divisional Commissioner Prashant Trivedi has been given
additional charge of the Information Department.
Reiterating his party`s demand for a CBI probe into
the CMO murder, the Congress leader said two ministers close
to Mayawati had resigned due to financial discrepancies in
their departments.

Corruption was rampant in the state government, he
alleged.

Tewari said the Congress would soon declare its list
of candidates for the upcoming assembly election in the state.

A large number of youth and women would find their
names in the list, he said.
