Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said her party`s
spectacular show in the assembly bypolls in the state showed
that people had rejected the negative campaign of opposition
parties.
The victory of the BSP in nine out of 11 seats amply
demonstrated that the masses had approved the Sarvjan Hityay
(welfare of all sections of society) policy of her government,
she said.
The bypoll results had exposed the opposition parties
which, Mayawati alleged, had been levelling false and baseless
allegations against her government in a bid to mislead the
people.
"The results showed people have rejected opposition
parties, especially the SP and the BJP," the BSP supremo said
in a statement here.
The BSP romped home in nine assembly constituencies,
wresting five of them from its arch-foe Samajwadi Party led
by Mulayam Singh Yadav.
