Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Monday directed the state government to file its response by November 17 on a PIL seeking direction to portray emblem of "Veervar Laxmanji" inside and outside the pandal and other prominent places of 'Lucknow Mahotsav' to be held from November 25 here.
Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and Justice R R Awasthi of the Lucknow bench of the high court gave this order on a PIL filed by Hindu Front For Justice, a group of local lawyers.
It was alleged in the PIL that the state government is violating the duty cast upon it by Article 51-A(f) of the Constitution as "Hindu tradition, culture and religious places are being totally overlooked and discarded intentionally in the Mahotsav".
The petitioners also sought a direction to adequately exhibit Hindu culture and buildings of historical importance while showing the cultural heritage of city in the Mahotsav, including in the magazine or souvenir to be published for the same.
The court directed to list this matter on November 17 before the bench concerned while directing the state counsel to seek instructions in this matter from the state government to file its response.
'Lucknow Mahotsav' is held every year in the city in which, besides display of stalls of different eatables and other things, cultural programmes are held.
