Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday asked the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government to file their counter-affidavits on a Public Interest Litigation seeking a CBI inquiry into allegations of amassing of assets disproportionate to income acquired by a top police official of the state.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Amar Saran and Justice Ashok Srivastava passed the order on a PIL filed by Ram Khelawan and other residents of Bilhapur Talhati village in Jaunpur district, levelling the allegations against IPS officer Jagmohan Yadav who is ADG (Law and Order). Yadav belongs to the same village.
The petitioners alleged Yadav and his family members have acquired assets disproportionate to their known sources of income and prayed for a CBI inquiry into the allegations.
Directing the Centre and the state to file their replies, the court ordered that the matter be posted for further hearing after three weeks.
