Lucknow: Underlining the need to equip the police force with latest techniques, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government was working to upgrade the system.
The Chief Minister said in the the fast-changing scenario, the pattern of crime is changing and new aspects are emerging, especially in economic crimes, which is posing new challenges before the police.
Addressing a Police Memorial Day event, he said keeping this in view, there is a need to provide latest information and techniques to police personnel.
He said his government is working to upgrade the police system.
Yadav said five new forensic labs will be set up soon.
The Chief Minister also announced that the financial assistance given to the kin of martyr policeman will be enhanced to Rs 20 lakh.
