Lucknow: Congress party's poll strategist Prashant Kishor has suggested that Rahul Gandhi should be made the party's face in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, as per a media report.
India Today quoted sources as saying that Kishor feels that the grand old party can come back to power in 2019 in the Hindi heartland by projecting the Congress vice president and if people start believing that he can lead them to victory in an election.
The report added that Kishor feels that Uttar Pradesh is the best place to start the experiment.
At the same time, the report also said if Rahul does not give his consent then Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's name be propped in UP.
And if both turn down the offer then Kishor may suggest former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit's name.
The website quoted sources as saying that the Congress VP has seen Kishor's presentation.
Rahul is also believed to have asked for a few days time to decide on the offer.
