Lucknow: Youth Congress activist Nishant
Patel, an aide of Rahul Gandhi, was today found injured here,
a day after he went missing under mysterious circumstances
from a hotel in the adjoining Hardoi district.
Police said prima facie there appears to be no foul
play after 35-year-old Patel, son of senior Congress leader
and former Gujarat Minister Hasmukh Patel, was found near the
Buddheshwar crossing in Talkatora police station area.
He had suffered injuries, including on the head, and
was taken to the trauma centre, senior Congress leader and
spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh said.
The Congress activist was staying in room number 104
of Utsav hotel in Hardoi, 100 kms from here, since July 2 and
was last seen yesterday morning.
Patel was traced when he stopped a car and requested
one Ram Prakash Gupta for his mobile phone to ring up his
colleague in Harodi to tell him about his whereabouts.
DIG Lucknow Rajiv Krishna said that Patel was unable
to tell how he reached Lucknow.
"He is not able to tell clearly what happened with him
since yesterday morning, but whatever he has told us...
anything like crime has not come up so far," he told
He said that Patel was taken to trauma centre where he
was given first aid before being discharged.
"The medical report has confirmed that he has an
injury mark on his head," he said, adding it could have been
caused due to a fall or any other reason.
Patel had left his mobiles and other belongings in
the hotel room.
