Rampur SP Secy resigns alleging favouritism

Samajwadi Party secretary of this district Afroz Ali Khan resigned from his post today alleging favouritism in allotment of tickets for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Rampur: Samajwadi Party secretary of this
district Afroz Ali Khan resigned from his post today alleging
favouritism in allotment of tickets for the upcoming Uttar
Pradesh assembly elections.

Khan alleged that the tickets have been finalised at the
"almost entire pleasure of party leader Mohd Azam Khan". Such
methods have ruined the party democratic norms, he added.

As a Congress nominee in 1996, Khan had secured the
Rampur assembly seat by defeating Azam Khan. He was denied the
ticket from Rampur this time.

Election Commission recently announced the dates for the
seven-phased voting in UP assembly elections which would begin
on January 28 next year and end on March three.
