Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh assembly on Tuesday
passed a resolution opposing a Lokayukta`s suggestion to amend
laws and guidelines pertaining to the development fund for
legislators.
Congress member Pramod Tewari raised the issue soon
after presentation of the budget in the House for the next
fiscal.
He said the Lokayukta did not have powers to make such
a suggestion.
"The House should pass a resolution opposing the move
of the Lokayukta and even tell the constitutional body not to
interfere in the internal matter of the legislature," Tewari
said.
He was supported by RLD member Kokab Hamid.
BJP`s Om Prakash Singh demanded an all-party meeting
on the issue.
SP members also requested the Speaker to convene an
all-party meeting as the House unanimously passed the
resolution.
