Sitapur: Three members of a family were locked inside their house for two days after it was allegedly sealed by revenue department officers over non-payment of dues, officials said here on Saturday.

Satya Prakash Singh, who runs a brick kiln in Sidhauli, had tax dues of Rs 78,000, against which a notice was issued to him in December last year, they said.

On Thursday, tehsildar Sushil Kumar along with another official Lal Gupta sealed Singh`s house in Vijaylaxmi Nagar area, locking his wife, son and daughter inside, they said.

Singh alleged that the revenue staff acted on the behest of a former BSP MLA.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashok Singh went to Singh`s house today and unlocked the house.

While an inquiry has been ordered into the incident, Lal has been suspended, the officials said.
