New Delhi: Accusing the Uttar Pradesh
government of adopting a "lackadaisical approach" in
implementing the MPLAD scheme in the state, an RLD MP has
supported the idea of social audit of the programme.
In a letter to Minister of Statistics and Programme
Implementation Srikant Jena, RLD MP Jayant Chaudhary has
alleged that the implementation of the scheme in UP and his
Mathura constituency has been negatively affected by the poor
approach of the implementing agencies and the district
administration.
Supporting the call for social audit of the MPLAD scheme
made by the Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh recently,
Chaudhary called for institutionalising a third party social
review process.
