New Delhi: A Rs 305.34 crore proposal to clean up river Ganga at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh where river Yamuna converges with it was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Friday.
"The CCEA (Friday) approved the proposal of sewerage and non-sewerage schemes for pollution abatement of river Ganga at Allahabad under the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) of the ministry of environment and forests at an estimated cost of Rs 305.34 crore," a government statement said.
The project cost will be shared on 70:30 basis between the central and state government. While the centre will give Rs 213.74 crore, government of Uttar Pradesh will provide Rs 91.60 crore for the project.
The project aims at minimising pollution of the river and improving its eco-system in the city.
