Lucknow: A Russian woman tourist carrying
a satellite phone in Agra was questioned by the police but no
suspicious activity by her has come to light, a senior police
official said here on Tuesday.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal told
newspersons that on information that a satellite phone was
being used by someone in Agra, the local intelligence unit
tracked it to Pushp Villa hotel in Taj Ganj area of Agra and
recovered it from Nikonova Tatyana, a member of a 13-member
Russian tourist group which had reached there on April 10.
She was questioned about the sat phone which was later
sent to the Russian Embassy in Delhi, police sources said
adding the woman was allowed to rejoin the group of tourists
from her country after the questioning.
The tourist had gone to Agra from Delhi via Jaipur, the
ADG said adding she had reached Delhi on April 8.
The woman`s involvement in any suspicious activity
has not come to light, he said.
