Lucknow: The agencies probing the murder of
Deputy CMO Dr YS Sachan have found a letter written by him to
a Health Ministry official in which he claimed that police had
forcibly got blank papers signed by him and two other accused.
In his letter to Joint Director(Family welfare) Dr
Rajendra Kumar Singh on April 10, Dr Sachan stated that he
along with two other accused in the case of murder of Lucknow
Chief Medical Officer BP Singh were forced to sign on blank
papers while they were being taken for remand proceedings.
Senior police officials did not want to comment saying
the matter is under judicial probe.
"Remand par court se laate samay April 8 to mujhse, Dr
CJ Yadav evam PC Verma se saade kagaj par dara dhamka kar sign
karwaye hain" (After returing from remand on April 8, police
has forcibily got signatures from me, Dr Yadav and Dr Verma on
blank papers), Sachan said in the letter.
The other two accused--Dr CJ Yadav and Dr PC Verma--
were also arrested along with Dr Sachan.
"Hame sandeh hai ki kiska durupyog nah ho. Agar aisa
hota hai to iski puri zimmedari apki evam prashashan ki hogi",
(I suspect that this (blank paper with signatures) could be
misused and if it happens you and administration will be
responsible", the letter added.
Dr Sachan was found dead under mysterious
circumstances on June 22 and a subsequent autopsy suggested
the possibility that he was murdered. The Mayawati government
has been insisting it was a case of suicide.
An FIR was also registered against unnamed persons in
this regard at Gosaigan police station.
With the Mayawati government coming under attack over
its handling of the case, the Opposition has called for a
CBI probe into the murders of all the three chief medical
officers killed in the last nine months.
