Samajwadi Party leader`s daughter-in-law found hanging

Kanpur: The daughter-in-law of a Samajwadi Party leader was found hanging at her house in Yashodanagar here, police said.

The body of Anita, daughter-in-law of Atmaprakash Shukla, a Samajwadi Party leader and vice-chairman of UPTRON (UP Electronics Corporation Limited), was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house yesterday, they said. Anita`s family has lodged a murder complaint against her husband Nivendra at Naubasta police station, they said. The deceased`s brother Kamlesh alleged foul play saying that the husband and wife`s "strained relations" led to frequent arguments and that Nivendra had a hand in her death, police said. The body was sent for post mortem where the cause of death was confirmed as hanging, they said, adding that further investigations are on.
