Samajwadi Party to launch 2nd phase of 'Mulayam Sandesh Yatra'

The Samajwadi Party would be launching the second phase of "Mulayam Sandesh Yatra" from here on Monday, the party announced on Sunday.

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party would be launching the second phase of "Mulayam Sandesh Yatra" from here on Monday, the party announced on Sunday.

The week-long second phase -- between October 3 and October 9 -- would cover 39 assembly constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh.

"The purpose of this yatra is to inform the public that the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh has fulfilled all the promises it made in its election manifesto," party MP Kiranmoy Nanda told media persons here.

"In fact, we have done more than we had promised. For example, the Metro Rail Project and Agra-Lucknow 300-km expressway were not mentioned in the manifesto," he added.

On being asked about the Opposition's allegations that the law and order situation in the state was going from bad to worse, Nanda said: "Tell me one state where the Opposition does not accuse the government of being lax on the issue of law and order."

On the Akhilesh-Shivpal stand-off, Nanda said there was no divide in the party and the workers were united and enthusiastic.

"There is no rift in the party. Netaji (SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav) has clearly demarcated the responsibilities. While Akhilesh Yadav would look after the government, the organisation would be taken care of by Shivpal Yadav," he said, adding that the morale of the party workers was high.

The first phase of the yatra, from September 10 to September 20, was launched from Lucknow and covered 73 assembly seats.

Nanda said the Sandesh Yatra would cover all the 403 assembly seats in the next two phases.
