Ayodhya: Security has been tightened in the temple town of Ayodhya where lakhs of pilgrims are expected to arrive for the festival of Ram Navami next week.

Three ASPs, eight DSPs, and 10 companies of PAC have been deployed for the security of the temple town along with personnel from the Intelligence department, anti-sabotage team and bomb disposal squad, said SP city Anil Rai, the security in-charge of Ayodhya.

Thirty magistrates have been deputed to supervise the security along with police officials in same number. Close circuit video cameras have been installed at all major temples situated at the banks of river Saryu, he said.

"We will receive more than ten lakh pilgrim for the mela which will be the biggest gathering of Hindu pilgrims here.

Though the festival of Ram Navami will be celebrated on Tuesday, the devotees will start arriving on Friday," a senior officer said.

"The security agencies are very much alert. The security cordon is not just in Ayodhya city but its radius is more than two hundred kilometers extending to the border of neighbouring country Nepal," he said.
