Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik on Friday appealed to the people of the state to shun differences and work towards making the state "Uttam Pradesh".
Unfurling the tricolour during a function at the Raj Bhawan here, the Governor said, "all the people of state have to come together by shunning their differences to make the Uttar Pradesh an Uttam Pradesh."
"I feel proud of being citizen of the biggest state in the country. It would become more relevant in case the state is turned into an Uttam Pradesh," Naik said extending heartiest greetings to all the people of the state on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The tricolour was also hoisted at the offices of all the political parties and government offices here. Special programmes were organised at the schools and colleges to mark the day.
