Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today said some party workers are "maligning" the party's image by their act of "plundering and hooliganism."

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today said some party workers are "maligning" the party's image by their act of "plundering and hooliganism."

"Party ke kuch karyakarta zamin, paisa, loot-khasot aur dabangai me lage hain. Inhe sarkar bawane se matlab nahi hai," (Some party workers are involved in land, money, plundering and hooliganism. They are not interested in making the goverment again in 2017), SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav said.

He was addressing a programme at party office here on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar.

"Such workers are maliging image of the party. What district presidents and devoted workers are doing. I have report of everyone. I have to run the party that is why I ignore but used to point it out from time to time," Yadav said.

He asked party workers to gear up for 2017 elections.

After Mulayam's statement, BJP reacted sharply saying that SP supremo had only accepted what they were saying.

"Mulayam has accepted what we are saying. There is no law and order in the state and SP leaders and workers are involved in criminal activities," BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya said.
Earlier, addressing the gathering at SP office, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that a memorial for first "Samajwadi Prime Minister" Chandrashekhar would be constructed in Ballia.
