Son of a BSP MLA was among three youths arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl at Sultanpur village of Haridwar district, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place in the wee hours yesterday when three boys, all aged between 15-16, barged into the house of Rajan Agrawal, a medical practitioner, and forcibly took away his 14-year-old daughter in a vehicle, SSP Haridwar Sanjay Gunjyal said.
When doctor and his wife rushed to their daughter`s help, the boys thrashed them and fled from the scene, he said.
The parents of the girl immediately informed the police which swung into action and intercepted the vehicle and recovered the girl safely, he said.
The three youths were arrested, he said.
One of the accused is son of Haji Taslim Ahmed, a BSP MLA from Laldhang constituency in Haridwar district.
Later, the accused were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, which sent them to 14-days custody in a children remand home at Haridwar.
Meanwhile, MLA Ahmed termed the incident as a well-planned conspiracy to give him a bad name and demanded an independent inquiry into the matter.
