Summons have been served on two sons of former president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed in connection with a property dispute.

Badaun: Summons have been served on two sons of former president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed in connection with a property dispute here.

The district revenue officer (DRO), who has issued the notices, has fixed August 05 as the next date for hearing in the case.

Neeraj Rastogi, counsel for the petitioner Akbari Begum, said that her client had in 2008 moved the court of DRO claiming that the wife of the former President, Abida Begum, had transferred 10 bighas of land to her father-in-law, Mohd Siddiq, in 1958.

Following the transfer, which was effected in writing, Siddiq had taken possession of the property, which now houses his grave along with that of his wife and son, Anis. Akbari Begum is Anis`s widow.

She had moved court over an attempt in 2006 to get the property vacated, Rastogi said.

During the hearing yesterday, DRO Umesh Chandra Upadhya issued the summons to the former president`s two sons - Dr Pervez Ahmed and Badruddin - both of whom live in Delhi.

Ahmed was the fifth president of India, from 1974 to 1977.
