Lucknow: Reacting sharply to Ajit Singh`s
Rashtriya Lok Dal joining the UPA government, the Samajwadi
Party on Monday slammed the Congress accusing it of shedding its
secular character by siding with parties which were once close
to the BJP.

"By taking support of the RLD, which was an ally of the
BJP, the Congress has indicated it is shedding its so-called
secular character," SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhry said.

He termed Ajit Singh as an "opportunistic" saying the
RLD leader had remained an ally of SP, BSP, Congress and BJP
and always cheated them."

Referring to SP leader Rashid Masood joining the
Congress, Chowdhry said "with Mulayam (Singh Yadav) handing
over charge of the party to Akhilesh, old and devoted party
workers are feeling ignored."

He also accused Mulayam of being against quota within
quota for Muslims.
