Faizabad: The model code of conduct has proved to be a spoilsport for a Samajwadi Party candidate for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls who was planning a
gala marriage ceremony on January 18, with the candidate compelled to reduce the expenses as per the ECI`s directives.

"I don`t want any confrontation with the Election Commission and also with my in-laws, as this election and marriage both are important to me. So I will fight election
and also get married. I will file my nomination papers on 18th afternoon and will get married on same day in evening," Tej Narain Pandey, the SP candidate from Ayodhya constituency,
said.

Hoping the marriage will bring him luck in the election, Pandey said, "I will throw a large marriage reception after the elections are over".

With the strictness of the model code coming into act, the candidate will have to accommodate with only 15-20 members of his family while the marriage function would be be organised in a small house situated at the outskirts of Faizabad city.
