SP demands CBI probe into CMO murder in UP

SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said some UP ministers were involved in the murder of the CMO and being shielded by the state police.

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the killing of CMO BP Singh in Uttar Pradesh alleging involvement of state ministers in the crime and accusing the police of protecting them.

Without naming anyone, SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said some UP ministers were involved in the murder of the CMO and being shielded by the state police.

Noting that the murder could be a result of alleged involvement of ministers in a "scam worth crores of rupees in the National Rural Health Mission funds", he demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of Singh.

"The state government claimed to have worked out the case stating Deputy CMO YS Sachan was the mastermind. But the scam of crores of rupees in NRHM funds is not possible without involvement of ministers. We demand a CBI probe into it," SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav told reporters.

CMO (Family Welare) BP Singh was murdered on April 02, while he was on a morning walk.

During investigations, large-scale anomalies had been detected in NRHM funds in the state. Health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra and Family Welfare Minister Babu Singh Khushwaha had resigned taking moral responsibility.
