Lucknow: Amid indications of a warming up of relationship between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav asserted on Monday that SP is not joining the UPA government at the Centre.
Addressing a press conference here along with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam said that neither the Congress has approached him to join United Progressive Alliance (UPA) nor is he inclined to do so.
“I have not requested nor will request. We are only supporting them (outside support to UPA) to keep communal forces away from power in Delhi. There is no other support.”
However as reporters persisted with the query, he said, “We are not joining the government."
On the roadmap for the future, Mulayam said the party’s government will work as per the manifesto.
