The medicos at the BRD Medical College are demanding FIR against the scribes accused for Tuesday`s clash.

Gorakhpur (UP): The medicos at the BRD Medical College here, who are demanding FIR against the scribes accused for Tuesday`s clash, continued their strike for the third day today, bringing health services to grinding halt.

A meeting convened last night by state Director General of Health Services Saudan Singh also failed to end the stalemate, with the doctors remaining adamant over their demand, principal K P Kushwaha said.

Kushwaha said services were being maintained with the help of senior doctors and the contractual NRHM staff.

The doctors have also demanded for lifting of all cases registered against them and are striking since Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, the junior doctors had entered into a row with relatives of a patient who died during treatment in the emergency ward of the hospital.

Several journalists had gone to cover the incident.

The doctors opposed press photographers taking clicking pictures of the row. When journalists opposed this, the doctors allegedly turned violent and attacked journalists with bamboo sticks.

They also damaged van of a news channel, police said.

The doctors had lodged a complaint against relatives of the deceased patient for provoking violence, while the journalists have lodged complaint against the junior doctors in Gulariha police station, police said.
