Lucknow: A student was found dead under
mysterious circumstances near a swimming pool in the college
campus here and police have taken four persons, including two
students, into custody for questioning.
Faiz Alam, who was learning cricket at Guru Govind Singh
Sports College, was found dead yesterday near the campus
swimming pool.
His mother, who suspected a foul play as her son did not
know swimming, lodged an FIR with Gudamba police in which she
named two other students of the college.
The two students besides two guards of the college were
taken into custody for questioning, Superintendent of Police
Abdul Hamid said.
The deceased's post mortem report, however, confirmed
drowning as cause of the death, he said, adding further
investigation is on.
Meanwhile, the college administration ruled out ragging
saying neither had there been any complaint in this regard in
the past nor the students named in the FIR are seniors of the
deceased.
