Lucknow: Three persons were on Sunday arrested
in Fatehpur district in connection with the attack on a UP
cabinet minister`s driver and loot of his vehicle in Kanpur,
police sources said.
The private vehicle of Health Minister Anant Kumar
Mishra was stolen after his driver Rakesh, 30, was shot at and
critically injured by some unidentified persons in Kanpur on
Saturday, they said.
The armed men had stopped the car of the BSP leader
near Aryanagar circle and fired at the driver before escaping
with the vehicle, police said.
During routine checking in Thariyaon area in Fatehpur
district, police spotted a vehicle fitted with read beacon
in the wee hours on Sunday, they said.
When police attempted to intercept the vehicle, its
occupants opened fire and fled from the spot leaving the car
behind, they said.
Police chased and arrested Anuj Agarwal, Sanjay
Singh and Pawan Tiwari, all residents of Allahabad district,
and recovered the vehicle, sources said.
