Three men have been arrested here in connection with a clash between Dalit and Jat communities, police said on Saturday.

Muzaffarnagar: Three men have been arrested here in connection with a clash between Dalit and Jat communities, police said on Saturday.

The three accused, identified as Sanjiv, Parmeet and Kushal, were arrested in Jat Mujhera village under New Mandi police station in the district yesterday.

The clash had taken place on October 3 between the two communities after a panchayat was convened to resolve some dispute. The discussion turned violent as the two sides resorted to stone pelting and firing, leaving three Dalits including a minor injured.

Tension had prevailed in the village after the clash, with the Dalit members holding protests and demanding action against the assailants.
