Three killed in separate road mishaps in UP

Kanpur: Two labourers and a youth died in three separate road accidents here, police said Friday.

In the first incident, a 28-year-old labourer was crushed by a speeding truck at the Sanigawan Mod near Chakeri yesterday, police said.

The truck first hit a car, then a tree and then crushed the labourer standing on the roadside.

The victim has been identified as Chote Lal, a native of Fatehpur district. He died on the spot.

The truck driver tried to flee, but was caught by people. He was handed over to a police officer who reached the spot.

 In the second accident in Swaroop Nagar area, a 23-year-old motorcycle pillion rider died after he fell off a flyover when his bike hit the structure's railing yesterday, police said.

The victim, Abhinav, was a resident of Shastri Nagar and was travelling with his friend Shikhar who also sustained serious injuries.

In the third mishap, a 24-year-old labourer was crushed under a truck in Bidhnoo area of the district yesterday.

The victim, Rahul, was clearing stones from the tyres of the truck when the driver suddenly drove the vehicle and he got crushed, police said, adding that the driver fled the scene.
