Lucknow: In fresh cases of crime against
women in Uttar Pradesh, three minor girls were allegedly raped
in Meerut, Firozabad and Lalitpur districts, police said here
A 14-year-old girl was raped by two persons in Nayagaon
village of Meerut yesterday, they said.
According to a complaint lodged by the girl`s brother,
two men, Gaurav and Sudhir, raped his sister when she had gone
out of her house last evening.
In Firozabad, a 12-year-old girl was raped by her uncle
in Sirsaganj area of the district.
The girl, a student of class five, was raped by her uncle
Dinesh on July 12 when she had gone to his house in Tundla,
Superintendent of Police, Firozabad, Manjil Saini said.
The girl`s parents lodged an FIR at Tundla police station
yesterday after which Dinesh was arrested, he said.
In Lalitpur, a 14-year-old girl was raped and the
incident was video-recorded by three persons in Nagra village.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim`s family
yesterday, the girl was raped and filmed on July 6 by three
villagers, who were later arrested.
The new incidents came to light after the state was
rocked by a string rape cases last month prompting Chief
Minister Mayawati to announce that the CrPC will be amended to
complete trials in six months in such cases, make the offences
non-bailable and provide stringent punishment to the guilty.
The Opposition has made the rising crime against women a
big issue ahead of the Assembly elections early next year.
