Lucknow: Three persons were killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh as rivers Ganga, Sharda and Ghagra continued their rising trend and are flowing
above danger mark at several places, officials said.
Two persons drowned in Ghazipur, while one person died due to wall collapse in Kanpur, they said.
According to Central Water Commission report major rivers
Ghagra, Sharda, Ganga, Rapti, Budhi Rapti, Rohini and Gandak
are on the rise and have flooded villages at some place.
Ganga was rising during its course from Fafamau
(Allahabad) to Ghazipur and Ballia, where it was flowing above
the danger mark, while Ghagra was above the red mark at Elgin
Bridge (Barabanki) and Ayodhya.
River Sharda is rising at Sharda Nagar while it was
flowing above the red mark at Pallia Kalan in Lakhimpur, it
Low lying areas of Gonda, Barabanki, Bahraich, Ballia,
Ghazipur and Lakhimpur are affected by flooded waters of
Ghagra, Ganga and Sharda rivers.
According to the MET office, south west monsoon was
normal over east UP. A rainfall of 26.8 mm mm was witnessed in
Gumatia (Kannauj) while Dabri (Shahjahanpur) 28.6 mm, Bareilly
22.4 mm, it said.
