Lucknow: A senior police officer has learnt the hard way, the consequences of speaking against the establishment in Uttar Pradesh.
Devendra Dutt Mishra, a DIG in the Uttar Pradesh Fire Service Department, had alleged that there was widespread corruption in the state ruled by Chief Minister Mayawati.
The government responded by forcibly sending Mishra to a mental hospital late last night.
Mishra, who is due to retire from service in two years, had threatened to reveal evidence including files that prove massive embezzlement of funds in the purchase of equipment.
The DIG claimed top officials had embezzled crores and that he was pressurised to clear files.
Lucknow DIG responded to Mishra’s claims by dubbing his behaviour as abnormal and sent police officials to forcibly take him to a mental hospital.
