Lucknow: Two officials who harassed a government employee here have been booked for driving him to commit suicide, police said on Thursday.
Sub-divisional magistrate Sunil Chaudhary and `tehsildar` JP Chauhan were placed under suspension Wednesday night on the directives of the state government for their alleged role in the suicide of junior revenue official Baburam Maurya.
Maurya`s mutilated body was recovered on Wednesday on the railway tracks in Alambagh area. "It appears Baburam jumped before a train," a police official said.
Police later recovered a suicide note in which Maurya had stated that Chaudhary and Chauhan were harassing him for a long time and the duo was responsible for his suicide.
"On the government`s directions, we along with district administration officials are carrying out a joint enquiry against the two officials," an Alambagh police station official told reporters here.
