Lucknow: Two criminals wanted in cases of murder, loot and kidnapping were Monday gunned down by a team of the Special Task Force (STF) in Uttar Pradesh`s Chitrakoot district, police said.
Raja Khan and Rahul Tiwari, both in their early 30s, were shot dead in a forest area of Tikria village, Superintendent of Police Tehsildar Singh told a news agency on phone from Chitrakoot, some 300 km from Lucknow.
They operated in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Khan carried a bounty of Rs 60,000 on his head while Tiwari had a reward of over Rs 22,000 for his capture.
Police have constituted teams to nab five associates of Khan and Tiwari who managed to escape during the gunfight.
