Kanpur: The district administration on Wednesday
cracked down on illegal water manufacturing units here and
seized packaged water bottles.
An official team raided two such unauthorised factories
and sealed them after seizing illegally packaged bottles
carrying 2,500 litres of water, City Magistrate H P Shahi said.
The seized water bottles have been sent to laboratory
for detailed tests, he said.
Only five companies in the city are registered with the
Bureau of Indian Standards to sell packaged water whereas more
than 100 companies are doing so without any trademark, he
added.
