Two held for Oct attack on police van in Uttar Pradesh

Two persons have been arrested here in connection with the attack on a police van last year which had left a constable dead, police said on Tuesday.

Muzaffarnagar: Two persons have been arrested here in connection with the attack on a police van last year which had left a constable dead, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the arrested duo had carried out the attack on October 10 of last year on the van which was carrying undertrial prisoners. The incident had occurred on the Delhi-Dehradun highway near Mansoorpur in the district.

Police said that the two accused have been identified as Vinod and Sunil.

SSP HN Singh told reporters here that their inquiries had revealed that a gangster who is lodged in jail, one Vikky Tyagi, had plotted the attack. The arrested duo has confessed that they were hired by Vikky Tyagi to kill undertrial prisoner Robin Tyagi, he added.

One constable was killed and four others, including Robin, were injured in the attack on the police van as it was ferrying the undertrials back from a court hearing.
