Two killed due to heavy rains in UP

New Delhi: Two persons were killed after being struck by lightning accompanying rains in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday as the monsoon remained active in some parts of the North.

The capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees celsius, one degree above normal and a minimum of 27.9 degrees celsius.

In UP, two persons were killed in rain-related incidents in different parts of the state.

Lightning struck in Ghazipur and Badaun districts claiming the life of Chandrabhushan Singh Kushwaha (17), a class 10th student and that of Nathulal (40), police sources said.

The Met office said that monsoon remained active over the eastern region and normal over western parts of the state following which rain and thundershowers occurred at many places in the state.

Rainfall was recorded in Kakrahi, Uskabazar, Chibramau, Trimohini ghat, Salon, Dalmau, Ghazipur, Basti, Rae bareli, Binki, Mishrikh, Ankinghat, Bhatpurwaghat, Allahabad, Paliakalan, Sitapur, Regauli, Bidhuna, Garotha, Banda, Lucknow, Auriya, Alirarh and Jasrana.

Sources said rain and thundershowers would occur at most places over western UP and many places over eastern UP.

Heavy rain would occur at isolated places over the state during the next 48 hours.
