Lucknow: With two more deaths reported in
Sitapur and Bijnore districts of Uttar Pradesh, the death toll
this season in rain-related incidents has reached 78 even as
major rivers continued to swell resulting in flood-like
situation in number of districts in the state.
While a child was killed and his mother injured after the
roof of their house collapsed in Mahauli area of Sitapur
district, one death was reported from Bijnore since yesterday,
official sources said here Sunday.
According to reports of Central Water Commission, the
water level of Ganga is rising in Fatehgarh, Gumtiya
(Kannauj), Kanpur Dehat, Dalmau, Ballia and Ghazipur.
Yamuna was also swelling in Mathura, Auraiya and
Hamirpur, while river Gomti is rising in Sultanpur and
Sharda was flowing above danger mark in Palliakalan in
Kheri, whereas Ghagra was flowing almost at the danger level
at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki and Ayodhya (Faizabad), they
According to reports, Moradabad received maximum rainfall
of 92.4 mm in the last 24 hours, followed by Bareilly which
received 37 mm rainfall.
