Two persons were killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh as major rivers in the state continue to flow above danger mark posing threat of floods in low lying areas due to heavy rainfall.

One person drowned in Gonda while another was killed after a wall collapsed in Firozabad, officials said.

Of the major rivers, Ganga is flowing above danger mark in Ballia, while Sharda is above the mark in Palliakalan (Kheri) and Ghagra is also flowing above red mark at Elgin Bridge (Brabanki) and Ayodhya, a Central Water Commission report said here.
In the past 24 hours rainfall recorded in Raebareli was 56.6 mm, Ankinghat (Kanpur) 49 mm, Kanpur 13.6 mm, Moradabad 32 mm, Bareilly 35 mm, Mathura 42, , Bardghat (Gorkahpur) 49.6 mm, Shravasti 18.4 mm and Gonda 39 mm.

The MeT department has forecast heavy rainfall at some places in the next 24 hours.
