UP announces Rs 500 crore for police modernisation

Mayawati on Friday said over Rs 500 crore has been released for
modernisation of the state police and a new battalion would be
raised to tackle law and order.
"Various steps have been taken by the government for
welfare of policemen and improving the resources for dealing
with criminals and Rs 517 crores were released for police
modernisation," Mayawati said while addressing "Police Smriti
The money would be spent on purchase of weapons,
communication and anti-riot equipments, vehicles and for
security and training purposes, she said.

challenges on law and order front, a Rapid Response Force on
the lines of Raid Action Force has been raised.

1.50 crores were provided to it while Rs 6.48 crores
