Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party today said the victory of its candidates in by-elections to two assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh has proved people's confidence in Mulayam Singh Yadav and the party's policies.

The statement was made by the SP's Parliamentary Board which met here today under the chairmanship of its legislature party leader Shivpal Singh.

The board also accused the ruling BSP of conspiring indirectly with the Congress and the BJP to ensure the defeat of SP candidates and expressed its gratitude to voters for not allowing it to succeed in its designs.

SP nominees Anil Kumar Singh and Kauhal Kishore yesterday won Uttar Pradesh's Nidhauli Kalan and Lakhimpur assembly seats respectively.

Charging Mayawati government with harassing farmers, the party's Parliamentary Board demanded that the advisory price of cane be fixed at RS 325 per quintal and the rate of wheat at Rs 1600 per quintal.
