Lucknow: Doubts are being raised about the death of the main accused in the murder of Chief Medical Officer (Family Welfare) Dr BP Singh.
Deputy CMO Dr Yogendra Singh Sachan - alleged to be behind the murder of Singh - was found dead inside the Lucknow district jail hospital on Wednesday. As per the police, Sachan committed suicide inside the toilet of the hospital but his sudden death, a day before he was to depose before the court, has raised suspicion.
As per reports, the suicide note has been recovered in which Sachan has written that no one is responsible for his murder. A post-mortem conducted by a panel of doctors today reportedly found that there were multiple wounds on the body and that there was massive blood loss, which could not have been the case if the victim had died by hanging.
The state government has ordered a judicial probe into the case while also suspending the jailor and four other prison
"Jailor of the Lucknow Jail, a deputy jailor, a head
constable jail guard and two guards have been placed under
suspension on charges of dereliction of duty," an official
spokesman said here.
However, it is being debated whether Sachan was murdered to prevent him from blowing the lid off on the reasons behind the murder of the CMO.
Singh was shot dead by unidentified persons on the morning of April 2 when he had gone out for a walk.
Sachan`s name was also being linked to the murder of another CMO (Family Welfare) Vinod Kumar Arya, who was shot dead in October last year.
Like Singh, Arya too was shot dead near his Vikas Nagar residence while he had gone out for morning walk on October 27.
Moreover, Sachan was thought to be involved in the swindling of funds to the tune of several crores of rupees in the implementation of the National Rural Health Mission in Uttar Pradesh and hence could have been silenced by those who would have faced trouble if he turned approver.
His family members are also not convinced with the suicide theory. As per them, Sachan was not under any pressure hence there is no reason for him to take his life.
Opposition parties have also upped the ante and are demanding a CBI probe into his death. Samajwadi Party would be holding demonstrations across the state today to press for the demand.
Sachan was named in CMO Singh murder case as the main accused following arrest of three persons by the STF on June 17.
Sachan was arrested immediately after Singh`s murder when the investigating agencies detected swindling of funds to the tune of several crores of rupees in the implementation of the National Rural Health Mission in the state.
