UP CMO murder: HC reserves verdict on bail plea

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on bail plea of former chief medical officer of Lucknow A K Shukla, arrested in connection with financial irregularities in National Rural Health Mission.

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad
High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on bail plea of former
chief medical officer of Lucknow A K Shukla, arrested in
connection with financial irregularities in National Rural
Health Mission.

The single judge bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Singh
reserved its order after hearing the arguments of defence and
CBI counsel.

In a counter affidavit filed in the court, the CBI
argued that it was suspected that Shukla could be part of a
larger conspiracy.

The court on August 9 had directed the CBI to file its
reply on the bail application moved by Shukla.

Earlier on August 4, the court had issued directions
to the UP DGP, to take necessary steps and make arrangements
for the security for Shukla lodged in Lucknow district jail.

Former CMO Shukla was arrested on July 12 from a hospital
in a graft case in which his deputy Y S Sachan was an accused,
and was directed to be kept under camera surveillance in jail
by a court after he claimed threat to his life.
