UP Council chairperson directs arrest of Deoria killers

The Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Tuesday asked the police to quickly arrest the two absconding accused in the killing of three Dalit sisters and instructed the state governemnt to provide adequate financial assistance to their families.



Lucknow: The Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Tuesday asked the police to quickly arrest the two absconding accused in the killing of three Dalit sisters and instructed the state government to provide adequate financial assistance to their families.

The issue was raised by BSP members during zero hour demanding a discussion on the issue through an adjournment notice.

Of the four main accused named in the case, Dheeraj Gaur and Amresh alias Loha were arrested on March 22. The weapon used in the triple murder have been recovered, Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar said.

The SP said that another youth, Ritesh, was arrested for giving shelter to the accused.

The other two accused - Sonu Harijan and Raj Kokil - involved in the killing are still at large, he said.

The three Dalit girls, who went missing, were found dead with head injuries in Barhaj area here on March 21.

The killings were a result of one-sided love on part of one of the accused Sonu Harijan with the eldest sister Indu (18). The two younger sisters were killed to destroy the evidence, he said.
